Apple Store &
Festival
For over 35 years Manzano
Mountain Retreat has been a working apple ranch producing over 4,000
bushels of apples and 3,000 gallons of unbelievably delicious cider
annually.
Manzano Mountain
Retreat is one of New Mexico's
largest apple producer with over 34 varieties offering the State's largest
variety of apples. Due to apple varieties ripening at different times, our
apples are generally available from mid-September through the end of
October. The fertile soil and rapid-changing daily temperatures make
Manzano Mountain Retreat's apples some of the best tasting apples found
anywhere in the world!
APPLE STORE
Manzano Mountain Retreat operates a country
store, which is open from mid-September through the beginning of November, and
offers a variety of apples and fresh-pressed cider.
Our apple store is now open for the 2009
apple season. We are open every
Thursday through Sunday from 9am until 5pm.
Our store will be closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays of each
week.
Each week we will have new varieties of
apples to sell and each week the cider will be made from different
apples. This means you can come in
every weekend and we will have different varieties each time.
Every week the “Apple Update 2009” sidebar
will be updated with apples that we have that week in the apple store. I
will try to keep this as current as possible with what has come in and what
has sold out during the weekend. Note that we sell apples on a first come/first served basis, so
come early for the best selection of varieties.
MANZANO MOUNTAIN
CIDER
The blended Manzano Mountain Cider is the best apple cider you'll ever
taste. MMR has recently installed Flash Pasteurizing equipment. Flash
Pasteurizing uses a new technology to instantly raise the temperature of
cider to 160 degrees, which destroys all unwanted, and potentially harmful
germs, then rapidly cools the cider to 39 degrees all in less than 10
seconds. This method provides a safe product while not altering the taste
one bit. Manzano Mountain Retreat cider making equipment is annually
inspected and certified safe by the New Mexico Department of Health.
Unfortunately, due to
overnight group bookings, we will not have an Apple Festival for 2009.
